Mothership RV

Welcome, Mothership RV, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

Mothership RV is our blog about travels and adventures we have with our motorhome. We named our RV Mothership because of it’s size and because a smaller “ship” detaches from it to explore the surrounding area. If you are interested in reading about our adventures both good and bad please read on.

The Amazing Vanstones

Welcome, The Amazing Vanstones, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

Hi. We are Marilyn and Larry Vanstone. Our story begins in 1980 when I am the new Sales Manager and she is the Controller for an RV company in Edmonton Alberta. We were the hot office romance and now almost 30 years of marriage later, I still think she’s pretty hot.

In over 32 years in the RV industry I have talked to hundreds, no, thousands of people who had such great plans once they made their million or their ship came in,or when they retired.

There are a lot of obstacles in this life, we all face some.

I have only met a few who actually turned these dreams into goals and then made those goals their reality. I realized that they are always the truly happy ones. We decided we would be the lucky ones. We would welcome opportunity with action.

Our first goal was that when the kids left for school we would take a year off and travel.

In 2001, with our son attending Ryerson University in Toronto, our daughter announced that she too was off to Ryerson. We sold our townhouse in Langley BC, bought our first motorhome, hit the road and wound up in the Baja for the winter.

We had talked for years about travelling but had never once considered what we would do when it was time to go back to work.

In the spring of 2002 we drove the coach to Ontario to see the kids and decided we would settle in and go back to work for the summer.

Over the next few years, still in Ontario, we sold the coach, bought a town house and went back to life just like everybody else.

In the winter of 2007 my doctor suggested I make some changes in my lifestyle. I don’t listen well, but we made some plans and moved back into an RV preparing to travel. In August 2008 I had a couple of small strokes. This time I got the message.

October 2008 we hit the road and spent the winter in Mexico on the Caribean Sea.

Now we live a pretty simple life; work summers, play winters and repeat. We love it.

From April until October you will find me helping my customers find the perfect RV at Sicard RV in Smithville, Ontario. If you have any questions about recreation vehicles I will do my best to answer them for you. Remember, I have over 30 years experience in the industry and we both live and love the lifestyle. I ask you; In the whole wide world Who could you find better to help you?

Here comes the salesman in me: We can and do deliver anywhere in the world.

While I’m working at Sicard’s you can find Marilyn either painting or working in the Accounting office at Marineland in Niagara Falls.

A Canadian Gypsy

Welcome, A Canadian Gypsy, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

I use the name Canadian Gypsy cause thats how i feel and how i’ve been living over the last few years. “Home is where you park it” is how alot of us live. I’ve lived in a couple of cars/trucks and a caravan. Most recent i hit the road while living full time in a home made tear drop trailer. Sometimes by chocie and not by choice we find our selves looking at alternitive housing arrangments. Car living or full time RV living is and was my way to a little financel freedom. We all need room to breath.

A New Adventure

Welcome, A New Adventure, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

We are both retired and embarking on what we hope will be many years of extended traveling. Our home away from home consists of a 1999 Volvo 610 with a custom deck that carries our 2005 smart fortwo. Our fifth wheel is a 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire, 37 feet long with three slides. All together we are 60 feet long and weigh just over 37,000 lbs!

American Daze

Welcome, American Daze, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

The Lundy 5

Welcome, The Lundy 5, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

Allen and Margie (Hamel) have been married for 12 years. We love God, family, and adventure, in that order. :) Kayaking, white water rafting, sky diving, mountain biking, anything with a little thrill!
We adopted our first son from Ukraine in 2001, which was a whole new level of adventure.
We adopted again in 2006, a boy and a girl from the US. And again, more adventure!
Our current adventure is selling everything and traveling the country full time in an RV!
We're a God-following, home-schooling, business-owning, adventure-seeking, always-learning, unlocating family of 5!

Where the FuhKaui?

Welcome, Where the FuhKaui?, to the RVThereYet Blog Network!

We're a pretty unpredictable family, in fact the most common question we get asked is "Where are you, now?". Hello, we're Joe, Vicki, Jacob(12), Jonas(10) and Jewel(8). We are an unschooling family that can't seem to sit still. We began a life on the road twelve years ago after walking away from a conventional suburban life, in search of a better one. Instead of power lunches, rush hour, and longing for the weekends we now enjoy lazy road side picnics, scenic drives and crowdless weekday adventures. No schools, no rules, no alarm clocks....Welcome to my life.

I am a Gypsy at heart, I have made my living, with the exception of the time I was Deputy Sherriff in NM,traveling. I enjoy meeting people hearing their story and moving on. Jeanie and I have been grounded due to medical stuff here in beautiful Orange county CA for the past 21/2 years, we are due to hit the road again in November 2010.When the time comes in our lives ,as it does sooner or later for everyone, when we can no longer travel "The OC" is where we will be. Jeanie is a Gypsy at heart as much or even more than me. She was stricken with Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 18 months and was March of dimes poster girl in 1959-60. Her travel had been very limited until we met and I promised her we would satisfy that wonder lust inside her heart. I modified a motor home to accommodate her wheelchair and lift and we were well on the way.I can almost assure you a new Blog, different from anything out there will follow, can you even imagine me being different.. unthinkable :-)

Guiler Travels

Welcome, Guiler Travels, to the RVThereYet Blog Network.

We have been full-time RVing since mid-2004 and are loving our life! We like to say that we are living the Lonestar song which says we are "chasing our dreams down the interstate!" We use this blog to journal about the places we see and the thoughts we have about them. We don't know how long we'll be on the road, but we'll keep at it until we don't want to do it anymore. It's a great life being able to travel with your best friend who also just happens to be your spouse!

Generation Z: Cruising in an RV

Welcome, Generation Z: Cruising in an RV, to the RVThereYet Blog Network!

When Bill and I were married 8/8/08, our wedding favor was a 20-page booklet on 'Cruising to a Life Together'. 6 months later he retired and we started our round-the-world tour... or so we thought. Back from the Philippines and Taiwan, we rented out our condos, bought Star, our first motorhome, and Vino, our scooter. On 6/29/09 we left for the never-ending cruise of our life. We have since been to Alaska, the Arctic Circle, the West Coast, through Mexico, the Gulf states, and Florida, logging 21,000 miles. We bought a bigger RV/dinghy for full-time RVing and are now going up the East Coast. You don't have to wait for retirement. It is truly not about age. It is about the lifestyle of the ultimate Generation ...Z!

Too Many Cats

Welcome, Too Many Cats, to the RVThereYet Blog Network!

We retired March 2009 to travel full time in our 1994 Bluebird BMC 37' motorhome with our 4 indoor (and sometimes outdoors, but only on a leash) cats. We are towing our 2005 Subaru WRX wagon, with 2 bicycles on a yakima dual bike rack at the back, and 2 sea kayaks on a roof mounted rack. Dan is a retired US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (E-9), and was a US Postal Mail carrier for 5 1/2 years and Sandy was at at Sandia National labs for the final 6 years before our retirement. We plan to travel slowly and leisurely to enjoy our new retirement, with a overall goal of health, fitness, and avoiding cold country in the winter. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do... Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain
